The combination of chocolate protein powder, protein rich peanut butter, and a little bit of sugar free butterscotch pudding mix makes a guilt free shake that tastes exactly like a liquified butterfinger candy bar.

Butterfinger Protein Shake

Some days I’ll mix it with almond milk, some days I mix it with regular milk… either way, it still tastes incredible. In fact, I look forward to my filling breakfast treat every day! Keeps me full until lunch time, which is a definite bonus for this full time food blogger!

I use the Shakeology Chocolate Protein Powder, but I’m sure any chocolate protein powder would give you the same results.

Butterfinger Protein Shake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk (any kind will work)
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 (large) tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar free Butterscotch instant pudding mix

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until well blended (about 1 minute).
  2. Enjoy right away.

Notes from Shawn

Use more or less water according to your preference. Less water will make it thicker and more will thin it out.

  2. Shawn … Oh, this is so great and I found our protein powder and dust it off. Now, need to make a quick trip to the market to get Butterfingers. Would you believe that we can’t find a Butterfinger anywhere around this ole’ house … :-) But, I do have a question about the instant pudding – what flavor do we use? I’m thinking chocolate, but just not sure. Thank you for the recipe … you are wonderful!

    • Hi Joicio, you’ll want to use the butterscotch pudding mix (I can’t believe I forgot to put that in the recipe, but I updated it just now), and you don’t actually put any butterfingers in the shake, so no need to purchase any of those! Unless, of course, you just want to eat a butterfinger! ;)

  8. What a great way to use protein powder in a recipe! Chocolate in itself is a flavor straight from heaven and the fact that you have combined it with PB and butterscotch pudding is just tempting me to chug this shake down.

  9. Wow! That is an awesome shake!! I have one for you and I had it this morning it’s a Snickers Protein Shake
    1tbsp SF Carmel Syrup
    1tbsp natural peanut butter
    1.5 tsp sf chocolate pudding mix
    1-8oz cup skim or almond milk
    2 scoops vanilla protein
    2 cups ice
    Blend together and enjoy :)

      • Here’s a Oreo cookie shake… I used to work for this company that sold different shakes that tasted like blizzards. I found one more. Trying to find more and when I do I’ll post it here. :)

        1.5 scoops vanilla protein shake mix,
        8 oz skim milk, or almond
        1 tbsp jello sf oreo pudding mix,
        5-7 ice cubes,
        1 tbsp lite whip cream,
        1 fat free oreo crumbled to top it off. Now u can leave the cookie off the top and it will still taste great!

    • Hi Nicole, since a lot of protein powders vary in what they offer in way of nutrition, I do not have that information listed here.

      • When it comes to the nutrition stats you have to see what the recipe calls for. The calories in a lot of sf items are next to nothing but for instance.
        My stats for the butterfinger is
        Protein:
        Serving Size: (40g)
        Calories 130
        Total Fat 0
        Sat Fat 0
        Trans Fat 0
        Cholesterol 0
        Sodium 190mg
        Potassium 570mg
        Dietary Fiber 3g
        Sugar 0
        Protein 22g

        Then you look at the peanut butter and see what the calories are for that. If you use a healthier pb the stats change.
        SF Chocolate Pudding are usually carbs and sodium. Like Shawn stated there are different proteins being used so go by what you put in yours. I use two different kinds one is what’s listed above and another that has cholesterol in it and lower calories. But my peanut butter is made through a machine at a health food store so no sodium.
