Macho Nachos

Father’s Day is all about showing the dad’s in your life how much you appreciate all they do.

What better way to say “Thanks!” than with Man Food?

Not just any Man Food, I’m thinking a big pile of hot, gooey, cheesy, layered Macho Nachos.

Macho Nachos

Oh yeah, daddy!

My husband loves Macho Nachos.

Heck, I love Macho Nachos.

Macho Nachos

The way to a man’s heart is definitely through food. My husband is not into all the fillers of Father’s Day, like neck ties, socks, and what not. I did however, help my kids create something with some popsicle sticks… I can’t help it.

A couple month’s ago I saw the cutest idea on Pinterest (of course). I never actually clicked to the sight, so I’m not sure who to attribute this great idea to, but it was a picture of 4 kids sitting on the ground with “We “heart” Daddy” written on their feet.

I have 4 kids, I figured this would be a fun project, and we could frame a cute photo and give it to their dad….

Yeah, didn’t realize how difficult it would be to get 4 kids to sit down all at the same time….

By this point I was ready to give up.

Then I decided to bribe them with popsicles…

This was as good as it was going to get. I can’t decide which one to print. I think I like the one where non of them are looking at the camera, but I really wish there weren’t any popsicles… Sigh…

I’ll probably get one of those unfinished wooden frames and let the kids decorate it.

He’ll love it.

He’ll also love these multi-layered Macho Nachos and a big frosty mug of Mountain Dew.

Macho Nachos

We know how to spoil dad in our house.

This is more like a family size portion of nachos, but you can scale it down or up to however much you need. By layering the chips with cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, and chili, you’re sure to get a loaded chip in every bite.

Ultimate Macho Nachos

The toppings are of course optional, I just threw on some of the basics. Feel free to jazz it up with whatever floats your boat.

Gotta love the man food.

Macho Nachos
  • 6-8 large handfuls of corn tortilla chips
  • 1½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1½ cups pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 (15 oz) can of chili (your favorite brand works)
  • ½ cup sliced black olives
  • ½ cup sliced, pickled jalapeños
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 2 green onions, diced
  • salsa
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In an oven safe pan or baking sheet lay half of the chips, then top with half the can of chili, ½ of the cheddar cheese, and ½ of the pepper jack cheese. Repeat the layering; chips, chili, cheese.
  3. Bake in the oven for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and gooey.
  4. Quickly top with the black olives, jalapeños, diced tomato, sour cream, and green onions. Serve hot with a side of salsa. Enjoy!

  1. Uuau… look terrific..
    Congrats for your family!

    • Thanks Lula!

    • All the women in my house would love these. Unfortunately, the man of the house would have nothing to do with these since he doesn’t like anything Mexican or Texan. Especially nachos. I’m renaming these Womachos, lol!

  2. Omagerd I love nachos. And those pictures are so DAM cute…the one with the littlest falling back with her buns in the air. Ha larry ous!

    • Thanks Sheila! I am starting to think that I want to give him all the photos, cause they are too cute when you put all of them together. Maybe I can do some sort of collage frame? Either way, I bet he’ll get a kick out of them. :)

  3. Heather says:

Too cute for words!! I miss those little faces, maybe yours a little too :)

  4. Nachos are my husband’s most favorite thing ever! LOVE these! And those photos? Adorable!

  5. Oh my goodness! The one with your little ones legs straight up in the air made me LOL! Hilarious. I totally feel your pain because with three kids I never get decent picture without a bribe involved either.

    • I probably took like 50 photos, and I swear, those last two were the only ones that were semi-decent. My little girl just could not sit still. Such is life!

  6. Adorable pics! And I love nachos more than anything-yum

  7. Love all the pics and I’m sure he will too!

  8. The cutest photos! I love the one with the little one showing her backside, what a cute moment. I know her Daddy will love the photos. And the Nachos of course.

  9. Family portion, bwah haha hhahah!! I ate at Macayo’s today and had this much for just little ol’ me! But this actually DOES happen to be on our menu for this week, so maybe we’ll do it for Daddy’s Day just for fun. :)

  10. OMG that is the cutest photo idea everrrrrrr! And the machos. Well. I’ll keep those for myself thankyouverymuch.

  11. The Popsicles make the pictures perfect I think love them all really you should do a bigger frame and make a collage of all the pictures in the frame they are all so cute :)

  12. You should do one with the popsicles and make a frame out of popsicle sticks!!!!

  13. Love the pictures of your adorable children! Thanks for this classic, totally delicious Nacho recipe. I can’t wait to share it with our Cabot friends and followers.

  14. KrystalC says:

LOL -Shawn! Those pictures are priceless! I love the one with Twila’s bum facing the camera!
I like the one of them not looking at the camera best. And the popsicles make it look summery and cute!

Simply amazing. My dad and I are both very picky eaters and there are only two things food wise we agree on Mexican and chili. This is the perfect blend of the two of them. My family loves this recipe and a quote from my dad “how did you get the chips to stay crunchy, they always get soggy when others cook them.” Thank you so much for this amazing recipe, it’s definitely going into my recipe catalog for good!

  16. These nachos look amazing!! My family would love these nachos with a pitcher of margaritas :) I think I know what’s for dinner!!
